Experience with Showers Pass rain gear
Does anyone have experience with Showers Pass rain gear. I am considering my first purchase of a better quality rain coat and pants. The local shop has their products available.

Elite 2.0 kept me dry while riding for one week in rain along the Icefields Parkway. Both pants and jacket are well designed with lots of thoughtful features.

I've had good luck with both their products and service. To be specific, I own the Club jacket, Hybrid pants, and Club shoe covers. They are my everyday "go-to" commuting gear.

I bought an elite 2.0 jacket and am very pleased with it. Works better than generic goretex jackets with pit zips. the fabrics is VERY breathable. The pants are undersized though. I've got a 38" waist with 31" inseam and was told the medium sized Event pants would fit me fine as they're good to 40" waist. They did NOT fit well at all even with just bike shorts underneath so I exchanged them for Large pants even though they're a bit long.

Two years ago after my Burly Gortex jacket and REI pants failed (albiet in a torrential downpour) I sprung for the Elite 2.0 jacket and Club pants and they've gone with me on almost every ride since and I live in rain country.

What were you wearing on the GAP tour? I have always stayed dry with my Showers Pass Elite (I have the older version I think) but on that tour I was damp that day of the all day rain on the C & O. But I am still not sure if I was damp from the rain or just perspiration.

I used the Elite 2.0 for daily commuting through an entire wet Oregon winter. It kept me dry from the rain, worked as a great windbreaker, is comfortable, and the reflective strips make you very visible to cars at night. No problems to report. I'd buy another if it wore out.

I live in Oregon. It rains a bit here in the winter. The showers pass rain jacket I own is a great product.
Durable, rain proof, even warm as a wind break. A good buy for a c-note.

Also living in Oregon I agree with JoeMan. We have had good use out of Showers Pass gear. We have been using their products for 3 years, except for the jacket I am wearing which is new this year. this was the start of our Oregon Coast trip at the Albany Amtak Station. We rode from home and took the Amtrak bus to Astoria on a really wet Labor Day weekend. My wife was really happy with hers on a two week tour last year on the Coast of BC.
P.S. Living in the Pacific Northwest is another reason to use Ortlieb's!

PSS.
Even Showers Pass gear does not work all of the time! There was no camping this night! The rain was literally coming in sideways, driven by 17-20 mph winds. My wife was blown over twice by gusts earlier in the day. She is not very big, but she can unclip in a flash!
