Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Opinions on this bike

Hey guys, just got into a fixies after riding my friends bike. It was an amazing experience and I am looking for a faster way of transport. Anyways, my birthday just passed and I managed to obtain 250$, I found a good deal on craigslist for the windsor hour, my friend told me it's a good bike as his brother used to own one. Anyways the bike is stock except the saddle and crank, the ad is asking for 250$ The bike size is a 54" so its perfect for me, I just need some expert advice on whether I should get it or not. I also really like the color, as white and black really suits me.
Should I get the bike? I'll be riding daily, from school and to various places, as I am still new to the fixie scene. I will be adding more parts later on and replacing the wheelset when I get the money, but for now I think the bike looks really nice as it is now, although I've heard bad things about the fork, I am not really sure if its true or not.
Heres a picture of the bike and thanks for the help

You can buy one new for $300 at bikesdirect.com

Solid bike though.

EDIT: NM, looks like they're sold out. See if you can get lower than $250.

Good price, but you're going to want to add a brake.

Maybe you can get the guy to include a brake, if he has one. He lowered his price, so if he has one he may include it for the buyer.

I mean, if the kid has $250 and the guy will include the brake. It's a good deal, considering that bike looks barely ridden. The guy probably bought it rode it 3 times and let it sit for a few months then decided to get rid of it to make room for whatever new trend he wanted to invest in. It looks barely ridden, so if you have $250, want a newish road bike, can't wait/can't spend $300, I'd say go for it.

whatever bike you buy for the love of god put a brake on it. Brakeless is fun, but not when you can't control your bike and your going 25 mph down a hill
