Bridges. They keep us from getting our feet wet. They make water crossings so much easier. Some are scary. Some are works of art. Show 'em!
US37 bridge over the Missouri River at Brownsville, NE

Swingbridge in Council Bluffs, IA

Lexington, MO bridge. The scariest bridge I've ever ridden across. Only rust holds it together

US66 Chain of Rocks Bridge across the Mississippi at St Louis

Long day in the rain. The sign said bridge out six miles ahead. You never really know if it's really out or just impassable for cars. We ride on:

Yup. It's really out. The detour route is a long way around. We found a path through the mud and across a small stream.

There's a terrific little drawbridge on the Erie Canal in Holley, NY. The town allows biker, hiker, and boater camping along the park near the bridge.

There are bathrooms with nice showers in the park for the campers. See the drawbridge operator for the keycode for the bathroom door. The bridge operator was a super nice guy. He gave me a tour of the controls and we got to raise the bridge for a passing boat while I was up there. He took my picture in the control tower.

Great pics cyccommute. I especially like the spectacular Navajo Bridge.
Need a little help. I've got a bridge pic I'd like to post here, but my efforts, using the pic icon, have failed. How do you post insert a picture in a post? Couldn't find a "help" section on here, and found nothing about how to post a picture from my search inquiries.

Keystone Viaduct, Great Allegheny Passage:

Bridge over the Severn River at Annapolis:

Bridge over the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. I chose to walk through the construction area after I saw a truck take up the whole shoulder.

Oldtown/Greenspring toll bridge over the Potomac. One of the last privately owned toll bridges in the US.

Bridge on the C & O - I don't recall which one.

I90 bridge in Seattle. I cross this 2x a day to commute (though usually not on this bike).

Same bridge; different weather.

I had to contribute too because this beautiful bridge is just a mile from my door. The motorist pay $4.00 dollars just to cross it but cyclist pay nothing. It enables me to enter Staten Island for free and believe it or not, I can then take the ferry into New York City for free too!! It's one of the few ways someone from New Jersey can enter into New York City without paying a dime!
The bridge is in excellant condition but the Port Authority might tear it down because the large shipping boats are getting BIGGER and can no longer pass under the bridge! It would be an outrage if they destroyed this bridge just to let those boats pass.

This is in front of the 1988 Olympic Bridge in Seoul, South Korea. A really cheesy Celine Dion song was playing through some crappy speakers along the bridge. The sound was terrible but the pictures turned out great!

To everyone else, great pictures! I love bridges.
Old ones: Tryst Falls MO

Railroad ones: Council Bluffs, IA

Historic ugly ones: Amelia Earhart Bridge, KS

Tragic ones: Mt. St. Helens

Even ugly ones that screw up the scenery: Sioux Falls, SD
Although that one is right on the edge

Thanks for the tips. Alas, the only place I have the bridge pic saved is on CG, and the URL link is noted as 'invalid.' Least I know how to do it now.

By the rude bridge that arched the flood
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled
Here once the embattled farmers stood
And fired the shot heard round the world

Here's one that's a couple of miles from my house. I've ridden across it many times. It's funny cause I have to put this link in cause I don't have a picture.
https://www.newfield.netfirms.com/bridge.htm
You take for granted what's in your own backyard. I'd definitely have a picture of it if I had seen it while touring. It's a beautiful old bridge.
