Greetings from Florida !

Another Florida 'old fart' here, seeking the 'fountain of youth' and hoping cycling will be the ultimate answer !

I'm retired ( gee how unusual in Fl ) and have fallen into desperate physical shape. I wonder if home-brewing played a role ??

Anyway. after about 50 years, I want a bike again ! I used to love to ride everywhere when I was a kid and believe it would be fun to ride again. And maybe drop 50 lbs !!!

So that's my story and I'm here to pick your brains.
Ride safe.

Just any bike will do when you start.
500 miles to get your legs in shape.1,000 miles to get ready for faster riding.
Ride slow, ride safe. Take on your issues one at a time.
Ask questions here. Try to find a group to ride with.

I started 23 months ago at age 65. 14,400 miles this year.

Welcome Al.
I'll soon be 65.
There are plenty of hills and back roads to ride on around Clermont. I moved to Atlanta in 1992 but when I lived in Orlando I used to ride from my house (west side of town) out to Clermont (thru Ocoee and Oakland) and back. The route was about 50 miles round trip. Very scenic and great fun.

As 10 Wheels said, any bike will do to start. Once you get your cycling legs back you'll be hankerin' for a good bike. Let us know what bike you get.
