New to mountain biking and looking at a Felt Q620

Hi All,
I've been riding a road bike for a few years now and want to give mountain biking a try. I'm looking at a Felt Q620 and wanted your opinion of the bike. The LBS I deal with sells specialized, khs and felt. They said for the price (around $650) the felt is the best deal for the money.

Here is a link to the Felt
https://www.feltbicycles.com/USA/2010...ries/Q620.aspx

Thanks in advance.
Jason

I recommend you go slightly up 1 level to a Rockhopper Comp Disc. MSRP is $770, but any shop worth their weight will give you 10% off msrp dropping you down to the $690's.

IMO this bike is much better than the Q620 and a totally super-duper much better deal than the std rockhopper.

I just picked up a Q720 off craigslist from someone who did not ride it. I am a roadie too. I had fun bashing it on a local mountain bike trail last weekend.

I ride a 2009 Felt Q720. I picked it over any Specialized I tested because the frame feels so much more exciting and more fun to ride, the bike just always put a smile on my face. The Q620 shares the same frame. Pick a budget, and pick the bike that feels best to you in that budget.

Honestly, I'd look into something thats spec'd a bit better, because I honestly dont think that thing has much bang for the buck. My original Cannondale F5 was $650, and that came with X5/7 stuff.

Thank you all for your replies.

ca7erham. Where do you think the felt is lacking? I looked up an F5 and it is priced mrap of $799. That's a 150 dollar difference. Maybe a little less depending on the deal. Are the X components that much better?
