Im considering a change in my fitness program

Im april I started riding . Ive lost 40 pounds . I never thought I was had 40 pounds to lose but it happened . I dont think Ill be competing in any races this year because My 14 year old son will be starting varcity football as a freshmen and I must attend all his games . So , either I will get back into martial arts , or start lifting wieghts . I have lifted twice a week . Im gonna cut down my milage to 25 miles a day . I feel Im at peak condition for a 45 year old man . I know I could ride 100 miles without a problem . Also , being 40 pounds lighter helps with my kness which got injured in my huge tractor trailor accident . I used to limp alot , mostly when I walked up stairs . I think while cutting back on my milage a weight training program would a positive and also the martail arts will get my new leg muscles stretched in a good way . I allready have a black belt . If I learn enough I could easily start teaching kids . Wish my kid goodluck ! Hes playing with the big boys now . I think Ill do my century next year .
Peace
Jar

Congrats. Sounds like you and your kid are gonna have some good times. I always wished my dad had been in good enough shape while he was alive, to play ball with me.

I am a big advocate for weight training. Even though I have lost touch with that side of sport since I started mtbiking (summer months I spend on my bike since summer is pretty short) The power and exileration when lifting weights is virtually un-parreleled. Then again I am much strong at anaerobic activities then aerobic and can really mentally push myself much farther (into a much bigger pain zone) doing weights then cycling.
