Mavic Ksyrium SSC SL 04 Warranty??
Howdy folks. Had a wreck on the ride today. When scoping out the wheels the back one looked fine but the front one was HIGHLY out of wack. Mabye bent? Mabye spoke damage. Couple of q's for the riding vets. 1. Is this something to where they can tweak some spokes or do i probably have to get a new wheel? 2. I bought these with the bike about 6 months ago... will mavic take care of this with their 2 year warranty?
Please let me know all you can on the subject. Thanks all. -LiveStrong.

The Warranty is for manufactures defects only, If you wad them up, its not covered.
How did you crash? Where you staring at the wheel in front of you?

Bikes: how long have you got?
G'day,
Firstly, mostly warranties don't cover 'bingles'.....If you dmage the wheel in a crash, it is not the fault of the wheel manufacturer (unless the wheel caused the crash!). Warranties protect you against faulty materials & workmanship, not things that are out of the control of the manufacturer. That being said, its very possible that your wheel can be resucitated. 'bent' could mean many things!..Get your a**e down to the LBS, (this is why we maintain good relationships with them !...lol) & get them to have a look at it...it's more than likely he will be able to do something, or at least give you a quote on what it will take to fix it. Mavic distributors value the reputation of their product. Get your LBS to talk to them. If they give a good 'sob' story, you may find they are willing to 'assist' you in some way. Get the LBS to ask about warranty repairs, but don't get 'gung ho' about it, as you're not covered, but it's perfectly possible they may help you out. Good luck & let us know how you go,
Hitchy

The worse that can happen is that you will need to re-rim the wheel. This may cost somewhere around $100-$150.

G'day,
$8K US?.....my expectation would be that the LBS would 'assist' me too!.....but lose the attitude!. You need to get your head around the words 'begging' & 'tears'...uncontrollable sobbing has worked for women for years...don't be to proud!...LOL........so waht did ya get for $8K & what damage did you do to the rest of it?.....(did you notice no-ones asked how YOU are?..LOL...like we care, there's a high-end bike in pain here!)
cheers,

HAHAHAHHAHAHAH THAT'S SOO FUNNY. Listen up fellas. I have spent 8K in about 4 years. 1st bike, got a 5200 and then bought my race bike. Hey Hitchey, G'DAY, I have been riding for 4 years racing for 2. I am a cat 3 racer... I am way past looking at yourself in the window so leave your silly comments out. Smoothie, the course could go right or straight. The riders chose to go right like we always do but one went straight and we hit the deck going 25mph. When i asked him what he was doing he said he knew to go right but he thought it was the next right. Luckily it was us in the front and we didn't get run over. It happens. C Ya.

if it helps any, i had my rear (elite model) rerimmed and new spokes this past spring from being hit by a truck, but it only set me back 150 (it took a little while to get the parts in, because of mavic and the bike store) but i am not on great terms with my local BS, so you might be able to get a slightly better deal from yours
