Are you trying to lose weight rapidly? That will make it harder to stay strong. Perhaps you should settle for a pound/week?

You still need to keep up a decent calorie intake. I am not a dietician or vegetarian, but you can eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables and still keep losing weight. There are days that it really doesn't matter that I ate a perfect diet for days to weeks in advance and I still had low energy output that day.

I raced Sunday and got SMOKED becuase I was too light on calories and carbs. Then again, I probably just got smoked because I suck?

the latter. Was fun tho....

what did you eat the morning you raced?
I tried to race in Central Park a few hours after eating (lol) ...an apple for breakfast---old ladies using walkers were passing me.
I usually pass people on hills---but they always over take me on the downhills 'cause I'm a wuss re: downhill speed

i'm trying to lose 20 lbs, by any means necessary, and I had a great week, but when I went out for a ride, I was shocked at how weak I was---my whole body was aching for food---an experience I've never had.

usually I pass about 89% in the park or on bridges (especially uphill) but I got seriously smoked on Saturday

Are you sure it was the diet and not just a bad day. I had a crappy swim today and have eaten properly for days. Just a crappy day and lack of mental motivation.

Try cutting back on food in the evenings but eating enough in the morning before riding. If you're not fueled for your rides, you're pretty much wasting your time.

Don't worry about how many riders pass you on WB bridge, your goal is to lose 20lbs.
