Suggestions for long distance bike deal

I have found a great deal on a used bike I found on craigst list. We are on opposite coasts. Any suggestions on putting together the deal. I don't know anyone near the bike to make the deal for me and arrange shipping. The bike is in Los Angelos.
Thanks,
Matt

I don't understand your question: Can't the guy just remove both wheels and maybe the handlebar and ship it like normal?

I would probably see if he would list it on ebay so you could buy it that way. At least with ebay, there is some protection for you both, especially if you pay with paypal.
