Ebay. Those HK-based team knockoffs are actually quite decent and very cheap.

Look in the discount stores: Century 21, Marshalls, TJMaxx. I picked up lot's of brand name (mainly Nike, Champion) sports shirts for around $10, not all were made for cycling though (didn't have the back pocket). I got a super nice Nike tshirt once that was normally like $80 for around ten bucks, because it has some blemishes and bad stitching. I fixed the stitch and it's been great. You won't look like Lance but you'll save a lot of money and still have wicking, fast drying stuff.

My shorts and jersey have lasted several years and that is with being worn and washed three to five times a week. I did have to buy new shorts after my dog got into the laundry bin and chewed mine up.

I haven't put much time into Ebay...I should look harder. I'll also try the other links as well.

How do sizes run?? Is it the same as a regular T-shirt??

Usually sporting goods store or Target. I pick up jersesys that are mositure wicking, with a high SPF factor, plain and does not have the advertisement for around $10.00 or so. I don't like to be a moving billboard when I ride my bike and pay enormously for the jersey. I only have one true bike jersey a short sleeve, made by Trek but it was a plain blue with a little tag identifying the brand. The rests are just plain long sleeved Champion, Columbia, UnderArmour, Nike etc with SPF factor of at least 15 with moisture wicking properties. Can't beat the price of $10.00-$15.00 unlike the lbs jerseys that cost a fortune.

Bike jerseys cost more than regular shirts, but I've never worn one out in 25 years' of riding. That makes the 'bang for the buck' factor on a relatively inexpensive one from Gnashbar or Poorformance look pretty good.

I have two of the Nashbar jerseys. The first was okay, purchased now 4 years ago. It's starting to wear a bit. The second was pretty lousy. The internal mesh is too coarse. They also tend to cut the newer ones for folks with more of a gut, so while it fits me across the shoulders it's like wearing a flag around my waist. But for less than $20 a shot it's hard to complain too much.

I always keep my eye out for sports shirts on sale. Costco often has addidas and Champion shirts between $10 and $20. I have bought Nike shirts at the nikestore.com outlet for $20-25. And you can't beat Nashbar's 72% off deals, they usually have one or two cycling jersey's for under $20.

A jersey has a zipper, a close fit, a long tail, and rear pockets. A generic "sports" shirt has none of those. It's worth it to me to pay a little bit more for those features.

I wear wool socks year-round. Really. They are the best, and they last.

Unless you want to wear a lycra billboard advertisement for some far away bank or a European telecommunications company, there are lots of 100% polyester type clothing around. In fact these days, tech-fabrics are abundantly available for $10-$20. Wicks off sweat and keeps you comfortable. They come in non-advertisement flavours though.

Not exactly designed or cut for cycling. It's better than an ordinary cotton T cause it wicks moisture, quick drying, some with SPF factor of at least 15 and inexpensive.

I have bought some decent bib shorts and jerseys from Performance over the last 15 years. Mostly their house brand some and some Pearl Izumi. I really like the insert in the house brand Elite II bib. I like a plain colored cycling jersey and they have those. Rear pockets are great for bananas, spare water bottles, jacket storage. The longer tail can cover plumberbutt if you are wearing non- bib shorts.

I've read a lot of positive things in the Road Cycling forum about Assos, Castelli, etc. and I'm sure that they are quality products. When I go over three hours in saddle it's my legs and back that hurt more than my posterior so the extra money for the high end stuff isn't justified to me.

Velowear and Pearl Izumi both have jerseys for less than $50. Back pockets, zipper, reflective bits too.
