Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Whoever knows that messenger in Chicago

with the orange Litespeed, can you let him know it's a sweet ride?

I saw him for the first time yesterday on Illinois Street, then he turned and headed for lower Michigan. I didn't get close enough that time to see what kind of bike he had, but it looked good from a block away. Then today, I saw him again- this time, he was flitting down Washington, headed west from LaSalle. As he ripped past me (I was headed up LaSalle and about half a block away this time), I saw that bike.

It's beautiful.

I haven't been close enough to see what's on the bike... yet. I'll catch him one day.

Nah. No crush... not yet. That bike... it was a beautiful thang!

Not all bikes look good even from a block away for me. But every now and then, there's always a beautiful bike that catches my eye. Not often, but infrequently.

Oh, I use that line lots, 'Great bike, Does your girlfriend ride too?'

Tire biter.

Remember highschool? Buggin' you I never had the car.

My new line is "Wow, you have beautiful legs, are you a cyclist?". (trying to find a girlfriend who rides.)

Hey, what is with the 'dumb' lady cyclists who don't wear helmets 'cause it squashes the hair?- ......
Stupidity is NOT a turn on.
I see that WAY too much, fashion or vanity?, is gonna get those poor ladies hurt.
Say 40% of female cyclists I see, don't wear helmets. Guys, 25%**********

And I thought guys were supposed to be the stupid macho ones. Hmmmmm.
