Shimano A050 Shifters

Hey, I'm changing my Diamondback Insight I to have drop handlebars, and I was planning on purchasing Shimano A050 thumb shifters. I would like to know if they can work with 21 speed bicycles. If not, does anyone know any thumb or stem mounted shifters that would? I cannot use integrated brakes/shifters because the bike uses V-brakes, and I can only find one set of drop brake levers that work with long-pull breaks. Thank you for your help!

They sound like they'll work just fine.

FYI, if you really wanted to use integrated shifters, you have two options. First, you could install Travel Agents to correct the cable pull allowing you to use your current brakes with the road shifters. Second, you could install cantilever or mini-V style brakes in place of your v-brakes. Either of those brakes is compatible with the road shifters and will mount directly to your frame's mounting bosses.
