yet another n00b clyde here!!!

hey, I live in the chicago area (far north burbs near WI state line)... have been a play time mt biker for many years but my 41yr old bones don't like the beating anymore and frankly I need to lose some weight... was as high as 242 at one point but have been dieting and running/walking and am now around 218 (as of this morning)... still a clyde but closing in on get under that 200 mark with a goal of about 185-190 where I look/feel healthy...

anyway, a friend has me convinced to start training for a sprint Tri for next year and I'm kickin it off by getting the running part going (i'm a few weeks into training for a 5k on July 4th) and will be workin on purchasing a road bike soon... at the moment still riding my trek 3700 mt bike, but that is mostly for family rides with my kids... I've test ridden a couple of road bikes and really liked the Specialized Roubaix Comp, just gotta get that past mgmt

hope to learn a lot here cuz I haven't been a road bike rider since the early 80's on my Fuji Touring 3

Welcome to Bike Forums.
I have seen mtbs in Tri's.
You goal on the first one should be just to finish.

Stay in touch. Keep posting about your progress.

well, that is my goal, to finish, but I've always enjoyed biking and frankly I don't like riding the mt bike long distances on the road...

at the moment about 4wks into the Couch-to-5K running program, still got a ways to go but enjoying the progress... the swim is going to kill me though, hahaha
