carrying stuff without eyelets
Hey, got a 1991 Trek 1200 and it has no place to mount a rack so I can carry stuff. I don't really need to carry alot. Just two things. I want to carry the little tire repair kit I got from walmart. Its a 6"X3" plastic case containing tire levers and patches. Also I would like to be able to carry a cable lock.
That is all I need to carry with me.
Can it be done?

A beam rack would work. It connects to the seatpost. or get a large saddle bag.

Seat bag/wedge. Then pick up a handlebar bag (like a Cannondale) for your rides where you'll be taking off your jacket or carrying smaller items. You can then leave it at home when you don't need it. I use one on my Crit frame.

Are you sure it has no eyelets? I rmember the Trek 1000, 1100, 1200 to be sort of 'road sport' bikes, and 1991 was before the current era of road bikes that are completely useless as utilitarian bikes. I recall flat aluminum dropouts that had plenty of room to have a rack mount hole drilled through it, so I can't imagine why in 1991 Trek would not make the bike more useful.
