Sram Red Crankset Campatibility with 2008 Scott Addict R4
Hello and some questions for those much wiser than I,
After searching the net for several hours last night only go to bed more confused than when I started I figured to see if you guys/gals could help.
Sram came out with a new BB30 compatible crankset in 2010. If there are any Scott Addict owners, mechanics, or interested parties out there do you know if this crankset is compatible with the 2008 R4? I own the frameset w/o the ISP, however, it does appear to have an intergrated BB.
If it's not compatible, what do I need to purchase in addition to a GXP crankset (e.g. BB bearing assembly unit, adapter cups, etc...)?
From what I read it seems the BB30 crankset is intended for integrated bottom brackets, however, it says it only works on threadless BB's. I think my R4 has a threaded BB.
I would like to have the correct parts on-hand before the tear down. Also, I would really love to go with the BB30 unit, although I don't think that will be possible.
Any input would be appreciated. In addition, I emailed Scott's customer service department in hopes of a reply....
Thanks,
RR

'09 Addict doesn't have BB30, I highly doubt the '08 one would have it. You can't use a BB30 crankset on a normal frame unless it has a removeable adapter installed. You can easily verify this (whether the adapter present) yourself with the frame in hand anyways.
If you don't know what to look for, post a good picture of the BB area. Sram RED cranksets come in BB30 and non BB30 versions.

Operator,
You beat me back to my thread and yes....the 2008 R4 is reported to have a standard BB and English threads.
So the BB30 crankset is out.
Thanks.

Would I be correct in assuming if the 2008 BB is standard and has English threads, all I would need is a GXP crankset and a GXP Black Box bottom bracket with English threads.

Reading stuff like this on the internet is what lead to my confusion.
https://www.rateitall.com/i-1049412-scott-addict-r4.aspx
The person incorrectly states integrated bottom bracket in his review when the bottom bracket is standard.
