tire fits

Do any of you know if I can put 28mm tires on Fulcrum 5 or 7 wheels. I have the 28s on the Open Pro wheels and I got another set of wheels coming from the Bicycle Wheel Warehouse. So now I'm going to put the Fulcrum wheels on the Specialized, which I have 28mm tires on now.

They'll fit and ride fine. But they will bulge out enough past the sidewalls that getting them in and out between some brake setups will be a pain. While they are fine the would "sit" on a slightly wider rim more optimally. My own feelings are that these, as well as the Open Pros, would be a better fit with 25's. I've ridden 28's on the same width of rim you're looking at and while it works fine for the riding part I did find that getting the tires in and out of the calipers even with the pads retracted was a "squeaky" experience. But if you're not having any trouble of this sort with your present setup then the new wheels will work just fine as well.

For my own money I'd still prefer a nice light folding set of 25's just to take advantage of the light wheel weight and make this a light and really spirited set of wheels/tires instead of mounting an unavoidably heavier set of 28's on them.

Thanks BC, I have the 28s on the bike now and I bought another set on sale and want to use them up. I'm going to go back to 25s after that. I know the Fulcrum web site says 25mm is the limit, but I thought that they try and stay in a safety margin.
