radioshack chris horner's alarming blog (spoilers alert)

chris horner of radioshack posted a blog at oregonlive.com for today's stage https://bit.ly/9CZ4N4

he talked about the injuries sustained by jani, kloden, leipheimer and himself, and wrote "I’ve got my fingers crossed for tomorrow morning because if things get worse during the night then we could potentially already have four riders out of the race."

what do you all think? is he just being dramatic? do you think any of the radioshack riders are in danger of dropping out? is this radioshack head games in play? what a bummer if any of them actually have to drop out.

if they are hurting, those cobblestones are going to be even more brutal.

By his own words, it sounds as if everybody is okay. I think the tag about losing four riders is pretty melodramatic.

What feels ok now might swell up or get worse overnight. Ever had that happen?
But, he probably is stretching it a bit.
Levi had X-rays for a possible broken wrist. Neg so far, but he does mention pain.

Injuries that involve heavy bruising often worsen overnight. At least as far as pain and mobility are concerned, not health.

Another German rider, Cervélo’s classics specialist Andreas Klier, said he could see both sides of the argument as to whether the stage belonged in the Tour.

“I think it’s a nice race, but it shouldn’t be in a stage race,” Klier said. “It’s a nice race, but with the wrong riders. Why should you punish the Schleck brothers to ride here? It’s the same as if you send me, or Brett Lancaster, to the Tour of the Basque Country. We have nothing to win there. The only thing that can happen is if Fränk or Andy crash and their Tour de France is over.

“But ASO chose the stage, and I chose to come to the race. No one forced me to race the Tour. I chose to race the Tour, knowing this stage was part of the route. So I have no problem with it.”

quote from andreas klier.
