Tour of Elk Grove

Who else is in?

One question:

Is there any difference in the two Cat 5 heats on saturday? They have separate sponsors and I am trying to decide which one to do.

Elk Grove?

We're only 4 days into Superweek! There's still THIRTEEN (13) days to race yet. If that ain't enough racing to make throw away your bike, then you're a PRO!

Wow, that really answered my question.

You know it is possible to do something called planning ahead.

He's yanking your chain.

I am doing EG. Registered yesterday. Great event - in that I work in elk Grove and I love it when a pro level event is supported by a community I live or work in.

The difference between the cat 5 heats? Nothing. Sign up for 1. Sign up for both. Sign up for the third....on the next day. Whatever. They are all the same. Ride heads up and near the front. The hairpin over the bricks is a catastrophe waiting to happen in the 5's is it's mildly humid or moist. Also the yo-yo effect on that corner is huge in the 5's.

Easy down the front - be in good position for the hairpin. Nail it coming out of the hairpin - as everyone else does. ride heads up through the neighborhood and nail it heading North - find a good wheel to get in behind. Watch the front straight up to the line. It is long and a false flat that just zaps your energy. I ride through there often and it's usually a headwind - stay protected. Dont do anything stupid but put yourself in the top 20 for the majority if possible.

...and bring your big boy panties. This will be a hard race even in the 5's.

I am, but there's racing going on NOW!

At this point, who cares about August, I'm worried about what I'm going to be doing in the next 15 minutes!

If you want to race - do it now.

Where did I say I wasn't racing Superweek? Once again, some of us try to plan ahead and you seem to be making assumptions.

If I remember correctly, it was a catastrophe last year for every category, including the pros, though it was raining on Saturday last year.

Relax, killer. I feel what Wilke is saying. Hard to even think about Elk Grove (and I do like to plan ahead) when Superweek is just getting going.

I'll probably be there, though. Trying to wrap my greasy mitts around some of the big dough up for grabs in the 35+ 3/4.

Having said that. I hate that course.

Tim went to the hospital and got stitches in his chin.

Oh yeah, I remember that. I had just pulled up to the events and saw that. There was a bit of carnage there.
