what: a tour of some punchy los gatos climbs.
when: Saturday, 7/24 , 8:30am
where: Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Co (101 West Main Street @ the intersection of University Ave.)
neatly tucked away in and around the los gatos area are some lovely low traffic double digit climbs. painful, demoralizing, but short efforts that reward you with dehydration and a humming bird like heart rate. i do not excel at these types of climbs so naturally want to string several of them together for a day of knee popping fun.
interested? the plan is to spend the first part of the ride right around downtown. after a warm up on docile overlook rd there are three progressively longer climbs one after another. then we head south a bit to collect some more vertical feet on reynolds before stretching the legs on super fun hicks / umunhum. and there's a tiny bump on the way home, hardly worth mentioning... since we'll be around downtown for the first half there will be opportunities to get food and water, or go back to your car and cry. bonus points for rolling up with a standard crank. prizes awarded for greatest water loss either in percentage of body weight or total volume.
40ish miles, 8Kish ft of climbing

A ride that starts across the street from me on a weekend I am free ... awesome! I am definitely in for this one. Saturday would probably be best for me.

alright!
i can usually get by on two water bottles for the last stretch but it is tough on a hot day. loading up on ice before leaving town helps. worst case we go over hicks to silver creek and refill bottles. then double back on the south side of hicks to visit the albinos.
*cough* ygduf?

There's a free public parking lot nearby on Park Ave:

I'm too slow to ride with Ygduf and anyone who can stay with him. I think he's doing Old LaHonda in sub-20 now - yikes! That's faster than most competitive road cyclists!
