It looks like the larger sprockets are much more worn than the smaller ones, which is very unusual. Or is it just the photo angle. Looking at it I suspect that a new chain might skip on the more worn sprockets. The operative word here is might, because you won't know until you try.

If you'll be keeping this bike a while, I suggest you buy both a new chain and cassette, install the chain and try your luck on the old cassette. If you can milk another few thousand miles out of it, great. If not, you have the replacement handy for a quick switch.
