The Black Jersey - a proposal

I propose that the TdF institute a black jersey - the maillot noir - to signify the rider with the highest overall standing that is 35 or older at the start of Le Tour.

I was going to post this on Sunday, but five minutes after I thought it up Team RadioShack appeared in ... black jerseys. There's just too much to say about that to say anything.

Wouldn't the Maillot Gris be more appropriate?

<somehow OK's post didn't show until after I posted... gmta >

Umm, black would absorb the sun's rays much more than any other color and I'm sure that the rider's are hot enough already.
I vote something like light green plaid.....

Not only that, but the extra weight of the absorbed photons would completely defeat the purpose of using ultralightweight, space age karbin fibre.

Ah yeah. I see he suggested 'maillot gris' also. I suggested black because that color is associated with the approach of death - although that is hardly universal; in the East it is white. So I concur with 'gris' - half white, half black.

Let's see. Lance Armstrong would have been the winner last year. Who this year (2010)?
