Hows the riding everyone? Its getting closer to prime time here in Southern Illinois. I got back into cycling 8 years ago after quiting cigarettes.I can only ride Wednesdays and Sundays and weather and/or honey-dos factor in on that.I do 30 to 40 mile rides then try to do a BIG ride at the end of the year.Last year was the Hilly Hundred in Bloominton Indiana.A 50 on Saturday and a 50 on Sunday.Steepest hills I ever rode on but I made it although spinning in granny by the end of the second day.I did a century the year before but I ain't doin that again.I bought a new Motobecane Mirage thats geared nice and low and I will try and do the Hilly again ths year!Man I hope its nice out tomorrow...

The Hilly 100 is a great ride. The mileage isn't huge, but there are some darn steep hills. It is a very well done event.

HeyBulldog, I live in The Bicycle Capital- Johnson County(as they claim on t -shirts now).I live in Goreville way down at the tip of Illinois. We do have some big hills around here or more than most people would think in Illinois. The trans-America runs trough here.I've been to Salem a few times.Nice town.I rode on the Tunnel Hill Trail one time with the Little Egypt Bicyle Club from Mt Vernon.Great group I'm ready to do the Hilly again.Well not yet.34 miles is the longest ride I've done this year, but by October I hope to be in good enough shape to finish it again.

your down in the Shawnee forest. Really pretty country down there. We were down there last summer a couple of times hiking the trails in giant city and the Little Grand Canyon.
A buddy and I did the Superman ride in Metropolis last yr. It was fun. My second organized ride. The first was the Harmony 100. You really outta try to do both rides this year.

Heybulldog,I already registered for the Harmony but I have never ridden it before. Its a couple of days after I hit 42 so its gonna be a twisted birthday present to myself. What can I expect? It says Amish country but I'm in that now. Most are pretty modern around here but there is a buggy every now and then.Any BIG hills?

Sunday will be the only day I can ride in the Harmony.I'm glad they have a Sunday ride.I have to miss the Tour de Cape and a few others cause they only have Saturday rides.Jim Razor from channel 3 weather is starting a new ride this year to tie in with Herrin Fest on, you guess it,@#%$&*! Saturday.I'm saving my personal days for the Hilly so I may have to show up at work half dead a few times this year. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do.KC
All work and no riding makes hilly100man a DULL boy !
