Shortening the Commute
I bought my house years ago, before I bicycled. The 16 or 20 mile one-way trip takes enough time that I can't do it everyday.
That changes soon. My wife and I are signing a lease tonight on a small house in Louisville. I'll be 3.5 miles from work. Wow. Shopping, restaurants, bars, neighbors, community, all close by.
We'll probably sell one vehicle. I'll have no desire to drive anymore. Ever. I'll be forced to occasionally on trips and such. I'll still need to get out to the old house to work on remodeling, but I could ride out there for that.
For the locals, I'm moving to the Germantown neighborhood. I hope to see a bunch of you out there.
