A Compliment!

Bicycled up to the park to watch the all-day criterium ($10,000 in prizes) and had a couple of folks ask me when my race time was!

Here's one for you Dnvr.

I've had similar questions posed to me. Makes you feel good doesn't it?

Yes. At this stage of life, I will gladly accept any compliment I can get.

I was stopped at a light a few months ago and a driver stopped and asked me if my rims were made of wood. I replied, "No", and I took off as the light changed. I didn't realize until later that he was making a funny! Ho, ho, ho. Well, with my white beard he could have asked the way to the North Pole.

I remember when I was a young teenager that my soon to be brother-in-law owned a bike with wooden rims. We occasionally went out for a ride together. He was an amateur cyclist and always left me in his dust. I didn't see him for a few years as he was drafted into the army and served in Germany. When he returned home we went out for a 15 mile ride and I remember waiting at the top of a one particulary long hill for my now beer bellied brother-in-law. I don't recall him riding a bike over the years, and neither did I....until three years ago at the age of 62. I've since put on close to 9000 miles, and am in far better shape today, than that day long ago on the top of that hill.
