How does this bike look?

I hate to be that guy who makes his first post asking people to review a bike but I'm pretty impatient and really want to get some real bikers opinions on this bike. I saw it and knowing little to nothing about bikes thought it was a decent deal. And the bike looks pretty sick.

So what do you guys think? Is the bike worth it?

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/bik/1951855291.html

There's the link. Here are the specs from the page in case the link dies:

Specialized Langster track bike with lots of upgrades! It has brakes and a flip flop hub so you can run it fixed or as a single speed. This is an awesome bike. Super light and fast. Email me if you want larger pics.

matte black frame, great condition.
Charcoal gray Velocity deep V's with machined rims laced to black Velocity hubs (flip-flop rear).
Brand new Nitto bullhorn handlebars with new time trial levers.
Campagnolo Centaur brakes
Brand new 19 tooth freewheel currently installed. IRO 18 tooth fixed cog with lockring will be included. (The cog is not on the wheel right now.)
Sugino crankset. 48 tooth chainring.
Specialized armadillo tires, hardly worn.
90mm Salsa stem
Fizik Arione saddle. (It's kinda worn, still good.)
Frame has very few scratches, absolutely no dents or other damage.

50cm seat tube c-t (Specialized doesn't size by the seat tube measurements)
about 53cm effective top tube
Stand over is about 30 inches (76.5cm)

You gotta go to the link to see the picture.

I think that's a little too much asked in the middle of the great recession. Besides the saddle and wheels the rest isn't much of upgrades in my opinion. I'd talk him down to $400.

Yeah, its a nice bike if you really want it shoot him an offer. But I would try to haggle him down a little big on cl you can usually get em down 50-100 bucks.

Way too overpriced. Payed 550$ for my 2009 Brand new and thats either the 2004 or 2005 Langster. MSRP for the 2005 is 600$ and 2004 is $400 referenced here: https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/B...0615&Type=bike

He might have a little money into it but its not worth a penny more than like 350-400$.

Cool but overpriced. You could probably do better. Also, how tall are you? That's a small bike.

very small, but would make for a great first bike if it fits! ask to go see it. ride it around the block and just be like "i really like it but i only brought 400 cash" or something. or just haggle however youre use to haggling.

I dont know where youre getting that overpriced idea from. This bike is very fairly priced. I guess people are just used to buying things undervalued off of craigslist. There are a whole heck of a lot nice, well thought out upgrades on this bike. If it fits, and things are in the condition that they say they are I would defiantly go for it.

I have the exact same bike, and the geometry is actually more track-like than the newer Langsters. Plus, its a better looking bike (IMO), so the newer vs. older argument doesn't hold much weight. Like Kayce said, it has quite a few upgrades, and seems to be reasonable, but simple economics dictates that u want to pay as little as you can. I would go with 500, and haggle, but I wouldn't balk if the guy was firm on the price.

+1

This is a great deal. Great components, great bike, great condition, great price. I would check it out before purchasing it, obviously, to make sure it's in good condition. Pay close attention to the bearings, as this is usually what people overlook.
If you can talk him down, by all means do it, but even if you cant, still go for it.
But take off that silly TT pad

Bottom Line:

BUY IT

Example: A $500 bike plus $500 in parts does not equal a $1000 bike. A $3000 car with $1000 worth of new shocks and brakes does not make it $4000, it is still a $3000 car (unless the price is artificially low due to bad shocks)

The price of any product/service, if it is represented properly is fair once the buyer agrees to it. If you really want this bike and he takes an offer of $400 then you paid the right price for what you wanted. If he only takes $450 for it and you ride away happy then you still paid a fair price for it.

I just sold my Trek T1 on CL. I was asking $550 and I got $500. So $450 is about that this guy is expecting no?

Two general rules of buying and selling used equipment:

Buyer: Always lowball the seller.
Seller: Anything used and in good condition is worth 60% MSRP.

500 is a pretty reasonable price, from what I can see. Try offering him 400 or 450. If he says OK, you saved a bunch of money. If not, you've lost nothing.
