Toronto Mayoral Votes: As a Cyclist Who Should we Vote For?
Here's how the polls are looking so far
44% of Torontonians want Rob Ford to be Mayor
38% want George Smitherman
16% want Joe Pantalone
Sarah and Rocco have dropped out.
Obviously we don't want Ford, so it's Pantalone or Smitherman. What are their ideas for cycling in the city, and who should we vote for that will give us a better deal?

huh? I'm not voting for him I live out of town. The point is he sucks on bikes, but that isn't going to loose the election for him. Most people don't care about bikes. It's amazing we have such crappy choices for mayor. But Toronto is a cycling paradise compared to the 905

I'm going to vote Smitherman just as an anti-Ford vote. Ford is a liar and is anti-bike, both things which do not endear me to him at all.

Apart from Ford's anti-bike position, he also just doesn't seem particularly competent.
Of Smitherman and Pantalone, I much prefer Pantalone's overall platform. That said, Smitherman's supposed plan to open up all hydro and rail corridors for bike paths is brilliant and something I've been advocating for years. I'm not at all confident he would come through on that, though.

ford
hate
Hey, they're both four letter words. Maybe that is fitting because his whole campaign is based on teasing out the festering hate under the city and exploiting it to win... Toronto has serious issues because i don't think smitherman has much of a plan either at least he isn't all about four letter words though.
