Is it really a huge difference? For about a 5'11 person is either 165 or 170 close enough to make my recent crankset with 165 crank purchase fine?

There is a difference. I know I ride between 170mm cranks and 165mm cranks all the time. I spin faster on the 165mm, I find it easier on my knees too. Fits me better as well. If it is for fixed, get the 165mm to help avoid pedal strike, but if it is a singlespeed get the 170mm since you are 5'11.

My tandem has 165mm cranks, my touring bike is 170mm, and my road bike is 175mm. Switch between them all the time and don't notice much of a difference. But I do spin at a little higher cadence on the 165s.

i am 5'11" and i normally ride 172.5 on my road bikes. recently bought a track bike that came with 165 cranks and the pedaling felt strange and i suppose it was easier to spin, but i also had some knee pain without even riding that hard. later switched to 170 and felt much better.

I usually prefer 102mm unicycle cranks. It was the only way I could figure out how to prevent toe overlap on my kilo tt.

i was going to get 165s but I guess at 6'2 i'm better off with 170s or 172.5's
