Dura Ace 7900 shifter failure

My rt. shifter failed today on a training ride. It will shift to a larger cog only, but will not upshift to a smaller cog. So, its stuck on the largest cog at this point. Anyone have this happen or hear of this problem?

I have not heard this. Is the cable old? I would bring it in to the LBS. They can take it apart for you. These are usually pretty bullet proof.

I also have had great experience with Dura Ace stuff. The cable is brand new - the shifter is toast. It will be replaced under warenttee.

i see this with older shifters in the 5-7+ year old range. nothing really helps, some screw driver handle taps or playing with the lever helps sometimes but they are dead for the most part.
