I think we ran into you on RAGBRAI this year. I'm riding an LHT, but my tour partner rides a Sutra, both of us fully loaded. I only saw one Sutra at RAGBRAI besides my partner's, I think it might have been you. We met at a HyVee store in Coralville I think! Anyway, it's a nice looking bike to be sure!

I like that fourth bottle location! Currently on my 26" LHT I have my pump mounted there, and the front bottle mount I carry my stove fuel tank. If needed I have two more water bottles that I stash in my panniers. But yeah! I like that aft bottle location! I think a bottle will fit there, even though I have fenders. Now where to mount the tire pump?

under the top tube? some mounts for some pumps can be zip tied there, at least there it wont get mud and crud thrown up on it from the front wheel.

Look at the pic of my Kona i carry my pump under the top tube. Trek & Blackburn both make good pumps like this.

This is my girlfriends Linus Mixte 3speed it worked out pretty ok for here. Hills were a little tough but she made it. I would like to upgrade to to a 11 speed. or find a different mixte frame with a hanger.

Just a quick pic of my Salsa Vaya before heading out on a "training" ride. I ride 150 miles a week, but on a carbon bike. My friend and I are setting out on the GAP trail in a month, so once a week, I am going to load up the Vaya in touring mode and put in 40-50 miles. A 17lbs race bike is a completely different beast than this pig.

Nah....my Vaya and I have a good relationship! It is going to be my primary ride from Mid-October through Early April. Actually I built it over the winter to replace my old bad weather bike (CrossCheck). If I could only have one bike, it would be the Vaya. My carbon Roubaix is just a summer fling!

I got in right at 50 miles on the Vaya today. Obviously it was tougher to get up to speed, but it really was an awesome ride. I stopped at an old train station a few towns away and took another pic. Notice the new saddle. I love the Selle SMP saddles, but I thought something a tad bit wider might make sense.

I loved this bike. I bought in the early '70's in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, took it over at least 9 passes in Colorado in 1979, fully loaded. Sadly, my Paris Sport was stolen in the mid-1980's. Sorry, if this gets posted to the wrong place. I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to do this.

My touring rig, in the fortified old town in Medias, Transylvania, Romania. Big 26 x 2.5 and 2.2 tires, 8in suspension front and back, under 20 lbs of stuff for a week long tour. Even though it's a little slow uphill, it flies, or should I say glides, on even the slightest downhill stretches, including some of the most broken roads imaginable, where my fully rigid tour mate and the hardtail one had to slow down to a crawl. I used to be quite focused on reliability, but this bike makes riding long distances so safe and confortable that I can't imagine giving up on the suspension or the geometry, derived initially from a diy xtracycle mod. I just can't express how satisfied I am with the bike, both on and off tour, since it's my only bike at the moment.

sandulea, that is one wacky looking bike, totally cool, but totally wacky! I love the very motorcycle looking bag that looks like a tank bag or even an oversized gas tank like on a Paris-Dakar enduro.
One thing though, it really looks like you must be stretched out all to heck to reach the bars, with the seat being so far back from the crankset--I certainly hope you are not uncomfortable on it but it sure looks that way.

very interesting bike though very different.
ps, I hope you had room in the bag for extra tent pegs, preferably wooden, along with the garlic cloves.

I think its great that you posted this up. Wow, even a good ol Bell helmet. Hope you and your rear wheel spokes did well and had a great time. Have you ever thought of doing some touring again? There are loads of bikes suitable for touring now, and a really big selection of panniers and such compared to even 15 years ago.
