How to make a 6xAA carrier work.......
Drill a hole in the side of the carrier to use a zip tie to strain-relief the cord.

Use heat-shrink wrap to protect and reinforce carrier leads.

Avoid using carriers with 9V battery snap connectors.

And warning - using certain batteries, or perhaps just bad luck could cause your MS 900 light burn out. I recommend against using "high power" setting when using AA batteries.

Is the problem with the carriers with a 9V snap that they don't make a good connection? I would think that they would ensure polarity.

Also, is the problem with the 6 AA batteries that it's close to 9V? 6 NiMH rechargeable batteries would be closer to the Li-Ion 18650 2S2P batteries, correct?

There's no good way to use AA batteries for a regulated light. Putting too many cells in series causes problems with the resistance in the circuit. I posted the 6xAA video as a stop gap for geeks that already own a ton of batteries - like myself.

The QC of MS regulator circuits is suspect as well. In theory, the light could "take" all the voltage from even eight cells, the problem is heat and current. If too much current passes, resistance falls and a spiral of heat and current cause damage to the circuit - and or the the light.

As far as the 9V snap connector - if you accidentally touch the wrong terminals during connecting - you could send the wrong polarity voltage to the light head to damage it. of course, if you are careful, no problem.
