peugeot competition 300 bicycle

hi i am a keen cyclist. i only cycle for fun and have been doing charity road bike rides for the past 3years, i have a 07 specialized allez elite double and a 2010 allez triple, in feb this year my uncle who works in a scrap yard got a bike in from a housing clearence, he knows im in to road bikes so i bought it from his firm for £50. the bike is a peugeot double c300 perf performance road racer, super lite p1 premium aliminium frame, has a british standard cert on it which i part 1 1992, its yellow fading up the red. i have looked everywhere on the net for a similar or anything close to it and i cant find no info at all on it, all i see is vintage 70s and 80s peugeot bikes, the closest i got is a 86 peugeot c300 which aint realy the same, the longer ive had it the more rare i think it is, people ive asked about it say its a competition bike as thats what the c stands for, any info will be appreciated, thanx ricky east london, photo of the bike is in the next tread, thanx again

Try some punctuation, an occasional capital letter, and paragraphs. It's almost impossible to read your posting.

Don't worry about finding that exact model or brand. It really has very little/no impact on value. Look for bikes with similar components (not just manufacturer, but model). For instance, if it has 8 speed Shimano 105 components, look for bikes with 8 speed Shimano 105 stuff.

Thank you for you're reply. Im realy not good at punctuation, sorry if it was hard to read, i'l try harder.

The bike has Shimano Sora front and back deralliers, Sora flight deck shifters and brake set.

Ofmega crank and peddles.

Mavic bladed race wheels.

The bike weighs 10kg. Its a better ride than my Allez elite 07 which has Shimano 105 everything, and my Allez 2010.

i was just wondering the history of it (year it was made, was there many made) or what level the bike was made for.

I dont want to sell it, ride wise its the best bike ive been on.

what does competiton mean on this bike??

Hi dickyjones !

Here is a similarly equipped 1990 Trek 330, which I think might be the near equivalent of your bike. A picture of your bike would help clarify. . . (This one listed for sale at $200) - So for 50 euros, I think you did pretty well.
https://westmd.craigslist.org/bik/2030869651.html

- I found the listing above by creating a site-specific search in Google (below):

"Shimano Sora 1990 site:craigslist.org "

-You can try other word combinations and possibly find even more relevant comparisons.

I must say though - I find very little information on Peugeots of this 1992 vintage - not even model names, much less anything about production quantities. This is quite possibly because of the withdrawal of Peugeot from the North American market in 1990.

These are pictures of my bike. Thanx for your comment and the link. Realy i just wanted to know if i had something special or just a common bike. I think it had the old frame gear levers, but have been converted to handle bar shifters. I paid £50 english pounds for it which is around 60-70euros. I see alot of 70's and 80's peugeot bicycles around london but have never seen one of these. I think its a 93-94. Thanks i appreciate your time

Sora wasn't even introduced until 2000, so the bicycle is much newer and I started my search there. It's the spitting image of the 2001 Performance 300, which sold for 460 English pounds. Complete catalogue here, courtesy of forum member MiamiJim: https://www.cyclespeugeot.com/PDFs/2001UKr.pdf

Thanks i have been told by a owner of a retro bicycle shop in bricklane, East London that its a Peugeot frame made in 1993-1994 and has been upgraded with shimano sora parts and handle bar shifters between 2002-2004. The bike came to me with Rigda S wheels which ive upgraded to Mavic R wheels. Thanks again

I idon't think it's a 1993-1994 frame with upgrades. Look at the link. From what I can see, it's identical to the 2001 model.
