Mrs. Grouch takes a dive (OT)
Mrs. Grouch took a seriously bad fall Friday morning. I got a call from her cell phone and it was a co-worker telling me that the ambulance was taking her to the hospital. Appearantly she caught her shoe on the carpet at work and fell forward hitting the wall with enough force to break the plasterboard. Injuries include a broken eye socket and broken nose, neither of which is likely to need surgery. The swelling has gone down enough that she can see out of both eyes but she's still waiting for the opthomlogist to check out the injured eye. They also want to do an ultra sound on her neck so she's still in the hospital. CAT scans have ruled out stroke or a heart attack as the initial cause of the fall.
She's going to look pretty funny in the Christmas pictures this year. She looks like a hockey player who won the game by stopping the puck with her face. There's also going to be a lot of Christmas pictures taken because 8 of the grandkids are getting digital cameras from us.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. It'll be a Christmas to remember!
I remember when I was in school, one of the other kids showed up after being kicked in the face by a horse. I don't think he had any broken bones, but he sure had the bruises. May Mrs. Grouch heal quickly!

Sorry to hear about the injury. Happy to hear that she is mending without surgery!
A photographers trick is to have the person hold something that would be consistent with the facial injuries.
Have her hold a football or a hockey club etc. She will look like a sports star not a person who tripped.
Merry Christmas!

OUCH!! Here's hoping she heals quickly and completely, many years ago I meet a "softball, (ya right!) coming at warp 9 with my FACE, I looked like I went 10 rounds with Heavy Weight Boxer! Tell the G-kids to "lighten up" on Grandma this Holiday Season!

Ouch! It's amazing how quickly we can hurt ourselves doing ordinary things.
How about a grandchild challenge? Equip each of them with a digital image or two of Mrs. G unscathed. The challenge is to use the image and editing software to have Mr. G looking her best in the holiday pictures.
Another alternative would be to collect cameras and phones at the door, but the challenge might be more fun.

Ouch! I'm glad her injuries aren't serious, in spite of the terrible fall. I hope she has the same sense of humor you do about the pictures.

Hope she's feeling better by Christmas.
A downhill helmet might have prevented the nose and orbit damage.

Now tha is cruel. Both the pain that is just about setting in and the cameras for the kids.
Hopeshe heals fast and the bruising doesn't last too long.

It's not too late to buy all the g-kids bike helmets and save the cameras until next time.

Sorry for her pain and hope she recovers completely. I knew of a guy we called Papa Carroll in the late 70's that worked for the local ambulance/rescue outfit here in Raleigh. It was rough and bit wild working with these guys. Papa Carroll used to initiate new workers by waiting till the 2nd or 3rd night of work, then the guys would grab him and Papa would get him in a headlock and ram his head thru the sheet rock wall. Many other things happened that wouldn't make good print!l

A "Get well soon!" to Mrs. Grouch. Hope she heals quickly and enjoys Christmas despite.
My Mrs took a little spill on the bike about 5 weeks ago. It was a slow motion fall, and no real injuries, but she did break a blood vessel in her ring finger. Had to have the wedding ring cut off. Still has some swelling and minor discomfort. Got to wait a while longer for the swelling to go down so she can get the ring fixed and resized.
Add to this, I did a similar slo mo fall and lost the diamond from my wedding band. It's a good thing we're not superstitious!

What bad timing she has (as if it is ever a good time to trip and do that much damage to her face. Prayers for a speedy recovery and that the bruising goes away quickly. Post up the Christmas picture if she doesn't threaten you with even greater bodily harm
