Hello all,

I have been commuting with my trek 2100 road bike and I have been thinking more and more of using lighting as I get closer to sunset. I have a niteride blow torch hid setup but it interfiers with the computer. (i.e. it will not read milage, etc when it is on). I really need the computer and do not want to go wired. Plus the niterider battery is so heavy that I do not want it adding 36 oz to a bike that I have spent major money lightening...

I need some cheep batery powered lights for the bike that will last a while and most importantly not interfier with the computer. I am thinking of trek commuter sieries system (cheep and works well) headlight and tail. Anyone have simular experiences or can sugest a cheep lighting product that will work for me?

Well I did find out why the niterider system caused the flight deck not to work, interfiernce problems. I still need sugestions on a light set though...

I've heard of quite a few complaints about HID lights interfering with computers. Have you thought of going with a helmet mount? Perhaps that will position the light far enough away from the computer receiver to avoid interference problems. And then get a halogen light for the bar. I use a JetLite halogen setup and it doesn't cause any problems. I also like the idea of a halogen light in addition to HID because HID has a delayed startup time while halogens are nearly instantaneous.

I have thought about that, but the blow torch setup is heavy. I would like something lighter...

try a topeak moonshine highlight if your after something cheap, you can find it for about $30. Its got 2 led's and a 2.4w halogen. gives a decent amount of light for sunset, integrated recharger for the batteries to.

I have this problem with my Cateye CD300DW. I read somewhere around here that shielding the light housing with aluminum foil might work. Has anyone tried this?
