Copake Bicycle Auction
Think I might try to get to this. It's over near my daughter's place and looks like a lot of fun. (scroll down for bike auction)

I'll have to look through this year's catalog once they post it. Just browsed last year's sales, and there were some pretty good deals, and many in my size! A bicentennial Varsity sold for $25, confirming disbelief many of us have when sellers seek big bucks for one. But an Alenax, estimated at $100-$150 sold for $400! Whodathunkit?

I went several years back for the swap the day before the auction. It was disappointing. Too much over-priced vintage road bike goods, and too much vintage ballooner-bike goods for me.

i've never been to an auction, but I definitely saw some interesting stuff in last years catalog. A Durkopp lightweight for one that really caught my fancy.
I'd consider a trip to check it out.

And a '48 Galletti with Cambio Corsa sold for $1100. And a '37 Hetchins for $900. A '45 Drysdale for $400. Raleigh International for $300. And lots of others, most in 23"-24", my size! Lots of saftey bikes and penny farthings, too. And some very cool lamps and bells.

I like the Dr Seuss looking bike with three wheels but I can't see paying 14K for Fixie

I've been to the swap for the past few years and I've always enjoyed it. I always come home with a few goodies
I'm thrilled that it's under an hour away for me. I don't know if I would be pumped up to drive more than that since it does seem to cater mostly to balloon vendors.
