Jack Taylor 650b touring tandem project.

Hello folks!
I am currently putting together a Jack Taylor purpose-built 650b touring tandem, and have been searching high and low for some 48 hole Super Champion rims in 650b. I've enclosed a link to view this project via flickr. If anyone could point me in the right direction, you would have my utmost gratitude. Cheers, and Have a Nice Ride!

Try these people first you may have to have a set custom drilled. https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/rims-650b...9-dept167_pg1/ also try this https://www.facebook.com/topic.php?ui...603&topic=3401 super champion was bought by wolber. The old rims model 58 were made by squashing a tube the model 59 look the same but are an extrusion thus are stronger.

I'm looking forward to riding this one! SJS had sold their remaining stock (Over 30 rims) a couple of days before I went to place an order, and are now out of stock. Tough break there. Thanks for the details, Charles. Hopefully I can swing a grip of Grand Bois rim blanks, and have them made to order. A worthy challenge, this project.

I'm not sure if this man wants to do business, as I cannot get a response from him. I've posted a respectable offer(IMHO) for a wheelset build, and am currently awaiting his reply...

Hi, A quick and easy substitution is to use the 26x1 3/8 tires and rims 690x35 There are some good rims out there in 36 and 40 drillings. Sun c18s. the brakes will work in this case as I have an old french 650b tandem and run these as at the time the 650s were not easily accessable. Just saying....

Hmm, that is an interesting alternative... I appreciate the info, Flypaca! I'm much too close to give up on them 650b wheels, and I'm meeting quite a few interesting folks. The search continues!

If you want to run 26 by 1 3/8 get the bike extras from walmart kmart or target. They have a kevlar belt. I'm using bike extras on my touring bike they work fine.
