How to dispose of garbage bike frame?

How to dispose of garbage bike frame?
How would *you* get rid of the corpse of a bicycle you unintentionally inherited?
My well meaning friend heard I wanted a bike, told me I could have the one that's been in their basement . . . well, they drop it off and it's a craptacular Huffy, with bent rims, broken bits, and strips of rubber that no longer qualify as "tires" . . .
It's now a slightly rusted heap taking up space in my back yard.
Do I bribe the garbage truck drivers to take it away?
drag it to the Scrap yard?
toss it over a hill down by the tracks? (jk)
Just wondering what others opt to do.

Mine started life a bit like that lol. It might just be in need of a bit of tlc (pictures) but if you really don't want it, donate it to somewhere/someone that does. Always better than throwing it out.

It's been several years since I've talked with them but the "build-a bike" program in St Louis used to charge a $10.00 fee to "donate" a bike. FWIW, the vast majority of donated bikes were simply disassembled and sold as scrap metal.

just set it to the curb with a piece of paper that says free. if i was to set a frame to the curb one of the local scrap guys would pick it up for free.

Seriously, in my neighborhood, you don't have to put a sign on it that says free. Just leave it at the curb and it won't last 2 hours.

I never had a bike that sounded that crappy, but I donated quite a few to the local co-op. Back in the 80's you could donate it to the huffy toss.

Mine go on the recycle pile. Last trailer full of aluminum I hauled down netted nearly $500
I recycle steel too, but don't get as much money for that.

Recyclers quickly pick up any scrap metal I leave out with the trash.

Around here, there's guys that scour the neighborhood for scrap iron and stuff, so you could just leave it out front by the street and it'd get picked up. I set an old dishwasher out there and it was gone the next day. Guess there's some copper wire in it.

Geez, you guys miss the point!
Keep the bike in the backyard, and when a good friend says they need a bike, give it to them. Your problem solved! Just like your "well-meaning" friend's problem was.
