No ride today - 104 degrees with blowing smoke

No riding for the last several days. We're a few miles north of the big fire in north CenTX. I don't recall ever seeing temps this high in April.

We'll be alright unless the fire jumps the Brazos. But we could sure use some of that rain you folks back east are getting.

I don't recall temps this high in April either. Saturday I did the Hemet Double Century along with some other forum riders, it reach 107 at one point. It was just miserable.

I was doing some horseback work in a film last week, in the mountains above Santa Barbara, Calif. At noon it was over 90 in the shade. I don't know how hot it got by mid-afternoon, but the horse I was on was dripping wet with his sweat. And I wasn't doing too well either. This is awfully hot for springtime.

20 below normal highs here in the "heartland" all week. Wet and windy too. We are doomed....
