Schwinn Super Sport - White and Red Fade paint resto help
Picked this up today.
Columbus Tenax tubed Super Sport. Shimano 600 except for the brake levers. Cinelli stem, nice long 26.6 seatpost was a surprise (usually its the short ones)
Had to have it since I know its a good riding frame and it happened to be my size 55x55.
I plan on a resto-flip but I love it when a flip is my size since a non-seller can always just be ridden!
She's rough. Not rusty/dented rough but paint is rough.
The red is not half bad in most areas and the decals are all intact. There are areas on the red and white fade in that are ruined though.
The white is rough, lots of areas where it is rubbed off and then many areas were covered in brushed gloppy white nail polish.
Any ideas on salvaging this one?
Respray and fade in just the white?
Get new decals and respray the frame?
Leave it as is, do restoration, clean and see who wants it?
Is there a preferred way to deal with fixing the fade?

So I'm thinking of doing a white repaint of just the top tube, rear trangle and downtube, fading it in and then hitting the rear with a good red fade to match it. Anyone know where to find the "Schwinn" logo on teh seat tube? If so then i could paint that as well.
That would get rid of the sloppy white and keep the red with decals. Not perfect but workable.
Cant find any late 80s decals.

Those are really nice riding bikes, I recently sold one that was almost new. If it was my size I would have kept it. Decals should be available on ebay. Fade paint will be tough to match.

I have tricolor 600 aero levers in the parts bin, not sure I'll put them on it. Will have to break it all down first. All the components are in nice condition, just the paint looks bad and the wheels need some love.

Found the Cinelli stem had a crack in the bolt hole and the Cinelli bars were bent. Paint is rough so I decided to make lemonade out of lemons.
Can you say single speed commuter? Kenda Quick 700x30 tires will fit front and rear so it looks like if all goes as planned I'll spend $8 and use some spare parts for a beater SS. Never bothered to build one before so now's as good a time as any.

It will work awesome for that. I was riding my prelude (same geometry and tenax frame) in the dirt and gravel for a few miles and it took it like a champion.
