8 speed cassette on 9/10 speed hub

With my recent wheelset quest, I have decided on a set of Open Pro / Ultegras. The wheelset is advertised as 9/10 speed. Will my Shimano 8 speed cassette fit on the Ultegra hub or do I need a spacer? Are the splines even compatible? Thanks.

The 8-speed cassette will fit with no extra spacers needed. All Shimano hubs that are 9/10-speed are really 8/9/10-speed compatible. Actually a 10-speed cassette needs an included 1 mm spacer but neither 8 or 9-speed cassettes do.

Hillrider must have the all time record for posting correct information here. I think I'd even let him work on one of my bikes and I've never let anyone work on my bikes.

It's a 1.1mm spacer.

LOL.

Would you let operator near your bike, then?
