The worst part of the 8 years I spent in Atlanta was the lack of White Castles.

So is that 40 laps around the 2 1/2 mile oval? I'm trying to decide whether that would be mentally easy or mentally tough. I can see it going either way.

All left turns? Even I couldn't get lost on that kind of route!!

10 Wheels & Daddy.... glad you all had a good trip. I'm thinking that I might enjoy doing that ride myself sometime.

Going round & round a circle could grate on anyone................, especially if that's all you do! But if you're not familiar with 'Indy', well, I can't explain the honor it is to even step foot on the MOST FAMOUS RACE COURSE IN THE WORLD, little lone actually enjoying a cycle tour.

With out a doubt my most gratifying moment was (1) rolling (pedaling a trike) out to the starting grid at Indy and to (2) enjoy the 'first ride' moment with a HS classmate of over fifty years ago (we hadn't seen or even talked to one another until last year). Then there's (3) having the opportunity to best my previous longest ride of 38 miles (hilly) (Redbud Ride, KY), which I thought in April would kill me! What about (4) the neat opportunity to say hi to fellow cyclists and discover personalities and to watch families with their kids. I personally (5) challenge myself to be better than most. With a trike that's easily twice the weight of a bike and positioned on the ground where track temperature really adds meaning to 'rump roast' and the inability to 'stand' on pedals to stretch those legs let gravity help crank out some power....., THIS IS EXERCISE! I'm an idea kind of guy (US Patent holder) so the long ride of fairly constant road conditions (6) provided me with the opportunity to try things out; like the large holes in the shoe soles near the toe-box to help cool the toes. It must have worked because I didn't suffer any discomfort or a distraction as I had on previous sunny rides. By the way, that stupid looking adjustable visor is a prototype to help shield the sun glare in early morning/evening head-on conditions. Remember, I'm in a 'recliner' lounge chair! LOL. I love to take pictures and there was not a single moment where the same conditions repeated, so even with riding the same roadbed every 2 1/2 miles, (7) the scenery was different, And if it wasn't what you saw in colors, etc., it was what you heard............., the voices & conversations, the changing weather patterns and wind conditions and then there was the music keeping you pumped along with the hand clapping from the sparse crowd of track-side onlookers or bell ringing from a concession areas. Then there's the (8) fund raising for the ADA to help the lives of others and the opportunity for friends to donate and 'take the ride emotionally with you' at Indy!

I'm sure I've left out some of the reasons I had to 'do the Indy Tour de Cure 100', but suffice to say it fell into the category of 'personal challenge' unique to each rider. I accomplished something over doubt and at a place I never before imagined with a friend I didn't know I had!
