I've been wondering if anyone would be into low speed mountain coasting . In the Mountains there are many long, paved descents. I've been thinking I would really enjoy coasting down some of those slopes. The problem would be getting back up to the top. I doubt there is such a hobby but I can see the potential of groups doing it with a chase vehicle and designated driver. The biggest problem I am wondering about is the constant braking that would be necessary on some of the slopes I've driven on in a car. On a five mile descent how would you slow the bicycle to a leisurely sightseeing speed without the fatigue of constant braking ?

I'm definitely excited about the concept.I'm going to try to organize something locally. I'm torn between a commercial tourism venture and a recreational co op. The best approach will probably be a combination of the two concepts. A co op would open doors for the economically challenged and disabled while a commercial venture would raise cash to improve the experience for everyone.

An iron-clad liability release form - along with a good lawyer who knows the laws in your state - would probably be a good place to start.
