Re-Introduction & Holy Cow, I bought my FIRST road bike!!
Hi folks....... I've mostly been a lurker around here. I introduced myself a couple of years ago, but the whole riding/weight loss thing just didn't click for me @ the time. I'm glad to say, things have changed for me the past few months. Since January 3, 2011, I've dropped 96 lbs, and I feel great! I still have a ways to go (I'm 221) but I'm confident I will reach my goals. In April, I bought a Trek Mamba 29er, and between that, hiking, and eating 1750-2000 calories a day, everything has really come together for me.
So......... my plan was to purchase a road bike in the springtime....... between watching the tour on television, and seeing those Trek commercials (Madone 3.1's for $1699) plus 12 months same as cash w/ Trek card.....I decided to take a peek @ one of the local dealers and test the waters. Yesterday I rode a Trek 2.3, and a Trek Madone 3.1 a couple times, and today I went back and rode both again......and decided to give a Felt Z5 a spin. What can I say, I loved it
.... fast and comfortable. I bought the Felt..........going in for a fitting later this week! I'm psyched!!

Congrats on the weight loss and the new ride! 96lbs since January is awesome. I would suggest some proper bike shorts, they will make a world of difference. As will a cycling jersey (or some type of moisture wicking shirt).

Thanks! While mountainbikng, I've been wearing padded shorts (REI's brand) under cargo shorts. That's been working well for me so far. I've got to eventually get to the point where I feel comfortable with tighter clothing, but I'm not there yet.
Fit and pickup tomorrow afternoon, and first "real" ride on my new toy! I"m psyched!!
