Schwinn Racer Anyone

I've seen a lot of old Sixties Schwinn Racers pop on CL lately. Has anyone ever done anything to one? I was thinking about putting a set of 26" solid axle MTB wheels on one. Before I pop for the bike I'd love to hear from someone who built up one.

The MTB 26" size is different from the utility bike 26" size. MTB wheel rims will be 15mm further away from the brakes.

Try the C&V forum. I've seen descriptions of various conversions on there.

With Tektro long reach brakes that shouldn't be a problem. I've got some freewheel wheelsets spaced at 126mm with a solid axle that should fit the dropouts.

All I'm looking for is some feedback on the bike itself. Schwinn made a ton of these bikes along with the Breeze in the Sixties. It's hard to believe someone hasn't modded one.
