1984 Team Fuji

What's your take on the value of a 1984 Team Fuji?

The LBS has one sitting in the rack, mostly intact, in my size for $300.
I think it's more like a $150 to $200 bike.

If the shop overhauled it, and stands behind it, $300 is pretty good.

If it's some as-is, consignment type deal, it's too much.

My buddy has an 85 model, only $300? I figured they would go for a little more then that?

In a regular market, in pristine, ready to ride condition from a private seller: $225, $250 max. Add a premium for buying from a dealer. Here, the bike shop premium on used bikes is commonly 50% to 100% (I sell some bikes on consignment, and even after I pay them their fee, I am way ahead). So $300 is pretty realistic, depending on condition. It probably won't last too long if it is visible at the shop. Some customer suffering from new bike sticker shock will latch onto this one.

At least half the vintage bikes I sell go to people just looking for a good bike, without paying bike shop price. They could care less about frame material, model, brand, or anything else. They humor me when I give them some of the details, but I can see their eyes glossing over.

The Team model migrated from the bottom of the performance models to pretty much the top through the 1980s.

Nothing really wrong with a 1982 or 1983, I just can't remember them selling for much more than wrk101's figures. Maybe a 1984 would be a little higher.

They're known for not so rugged paint jobs, if it's rust free it will be an exception and easily worth the asking price. Nice frames.

Here in Boston, all tuned up, $300 would be a good deal for the buyer.
