Hydration Belts

Obviously for running...not cycling.

Fuel Belts seem to get all of the press but it seems to me that Amphipod has a better design (the water bottles clip in rather than get inserted into elastic loops.

Does anyone have experience with one or both?

I just have a double use camel back, camping and riding. i defientely think you should go back not waist.
To me the waist is annoying.

I have the Amphipod larger version for gu's, keys, etc. I wore it during my training this past year (~500miles) and during a Marathon in October. I find it comfortable with minimal bounce.
I have a Camelback (waist version) and never got used to it. The straps would losen and the thing bounced all over the place. I also experienced some chafing with the Camelback. I didn't want to do the full back Camelback for heat reasons. During the summer I want to stay as cool as possible and can't imagine a full pack helps any.

Speedy. Do the clips still work well? I was concerned that they would get loose over time but I imagine that you took the bottles in and out of the clips quite a bit over the course of 500 miles. Sounds like a good product.

cjbruin:
I have the Amphipod Full Tilt Trail -- https://www.amphipod.com/ftt/fulltilttrail.html
There isn't really any "clips" but rather a "bungee" (elastic band) that you loop over the mouth of the bottle if needed. The elastic is still good but I only looped it on 50% of the time. The bottle is held in place by a snug fit pocket. I've never had it fall out. Let me know if you have any other questions??
Check out their dealers and I'm sure you can take a look at a local shop, however I found the best pricing online.

Ahhhhh. I was looking at the RunLite...different product. I should have been more specific.

I've used both. I like the way the amphipod fits, but I have a bad shoulder, and I find it difficult to reach behind myself and pull it out. Unfortunately, it is not an ambidextrous design. I also find I don't have enough room for an inhaler, gel, and some money.

The fuel belt I have does not have a pocket, but I have added one that is sufficient for the items I mentioned. In addition, I like some fuel on the run, but more water, so I can fill some bottles with water, others with accelerade, and have my pick. I also run with a dog, so he has one bottle designated as his. The design of the belt is more comfortable than it may first appear.

Actually, putting the amphipod bottle into the holder is harder than taking it out.
