I read about this as well. There seems to be a growing number of cyclists on the road, no doubt partly due to the recent hikes in the already high cost of fuel, and costly, unreliable public transport. People seem to forget that bikes have a significant service and parts market, probably because a lot of these people will buy an el-cheapo BSO and never think about maintaining it or actually using it for anything useful.

Yeah fuel is expensive. A person could save a huge amount of money not driving a car constantly. $100-$300 a month on gas or more, depending on your vehicle.
