I've done NYTC events in the past, mostly their biathlons. The central park biathlons are a nice short intro to multisports. The park is open to the public so beware of putting your head down and hammering away on the bike course. The Bronx and Queens biathlon events are the ones Im fond of since they close a portion of the highway for cycling.

How does it work with a 1 mile north, 1 mile south run, with cyclists on the same route? That seems like it could be chaos if it's open to the public? Any reason why it's $75? NYRR events are so much cheaper than that!
I've never done ANY event, so would this be a good "introduction," or should I just start with a NYRR event that's cheaper and probably less chaotic?
