Have you ever pulled your gluteus medius?

I did last Thursday. I think I did it when standing up and hammering on the pedals. luckily I rested this weekend. Went for a 15 miler this evening and it felt great! Any ideas on how to avoid straining a muscle like this?

Don't know how I did it but had a couple of weeks of agony when I pulled it. Never had the problem since so don't know how to cause the problem- how to live with it or how to avoid cure the problem either.

This came about last autumn at the start of a knee problem that cut back my riding somewhat. So I reckon that it was lack of exercise and then doing too much that caused it for me.

It tightens up when I'm resting. Loosens up when rideing. Being very conservative when rideing.
