Bent up a wheel on the Schwinn.
Sorry, I don't have pics, but the rim is pretty boogered. I hit a water filled pothole that turned out to be much deeper than I thought, managed to flat BOTH tires and bend my front wheel. I'm debating what to do next. My options seem to be thus:
1. Build/buy a new wheel for the Schwinn. If I go this route, what rim do I go for as my hub is still ok.
2. Take the Vuelta XRP Pro front wheel off my Motobecane and put it on the Schwinn, and build/buy a really nice front wheel for the Motobecane.
My budget is limited, but I figure I could get a pretty nice used front wheel for the Motobecane for not much money, or build a front wheel for the Schwinn using my existing hub for like $100 tops.
WWBFD? Any wheel/rim recommendations?

Post a WTB Wheelset in the bicycle section of your local C/L. You should be able to find something pretty quick, at a reasonable price, particularly if you are OK with 7 speed stuff.

+1 And if that fails, build one yourself with your old hub. The mismatch with that Vuelta is too much to contemplate!

Default answer is Mavic Open Pro to rebuild, but you'd need to get a set of new spokes on top of that and it'll end up over your $100 budget, not to mention having to build it yourself.
If you were running a freehub you could just buy something like this and have a matching set:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/MAVIC-CXP22-...item20b9ab7e44
https://www.ebay.com/itm/MAVIC-CXP22-...item2eb564e344
Or you can buy it anyway, try to sell off the rear and make back half your money. $60 for a new front wheel isn't too terrible.

As far as cost effectiveness that seems to be pretty good.

You might be able to fix that. About 2 months ago I had a thread running on fixing the bent rear wheel on a PX10LE. It had a triple taco in it....seriously. Between my relaxing the spokes and bending/flexing on the doorpost and the LBS having a go at truing it all came out pretty good. Not perfect but good enough for not having to search the earth for a new rim.

I may be broke, but I'm super anal retentive. Knowing that my rim surface was lumpy would bother me a lot. The Arayas are good rims, and when I redo that bike this winter they should go well with the rest of the upgrades.
