Kona Unit questions.

I just received a 2002 Kona Unit, & need to know what size the seat post diameter is?
I found that the 2009 is 27.2", do you think they're the same?
And would I be able to convert my unit to 29" wheels & tires?(From a 2009 Kona Unit)

Thanks in advance.

You can measure the hole where the seat post goes with a ruler, measuring tape, etc, and chances are, no

Yikes, no!

A fraction of a millimeter can determine whether or not a seat post fits. Get a dial caliper if you don't already have one. Or you could try an auto parts store with customer tools...the Advance Auto by my house didn't have one, but loaner tool inventory varies from store to store. And if all else fails, you could probably get your LBS to measure it for you for free. All it takes is a few seconds to adjust the dial, so they'd be crooks if they charged you for that.

I contacted Kona Tech & they confirmed it was 27.0mm & I can't use 29er's.

I struggled getting the old post out since the previous owner thought it would be smart to cram a 27.2mm post into a frame which fits a 27.0mm post.
Ended up just mangling the seat post that was in there, was pretty much seized, had to drill relief holes, & grease it up with penetrating grease.
I ended up having to heat it up, & use a pipe wrench to muscle it out.
It's said 27.2mm on the bar, I chopped it down to use a
stubby for mock up & tuning, & it fit really snug.
It was a pink anodized seat post that I wasn't planning on keeping BTW.

I replaced the seat post, seat, stem, handlebar(Red Risers to black straight bar)grips, front brakes, & added fenders.
Just getting ready for own lovely Autumn weather we have around here.
Wet, wet, & a lil more wet.
XD

Thanks for your input.
